Golf day at the Growling Frog - Melbourne

April 2013 TM AS JC LM Golf

Lee McAndrews and Jamie Collins were treated to a game of golf by the directors, Tom & Andrew on Friday 5th April. This was to celebrate a fantastic job and overall contribution to the business by Lee and Jamie over the past 3 months.

The weather, 25deg and sunny, and the immaculate golf course provided a perfect setting for a fun day. Lee was playing only his second ever round of golf so the course proved very challenging however enjoyable. Tom, Andrew and Jamie having more experience made a close game of mildly competitive golf.  As we stepped onto the 18th Tom was on 89, Andrew 97 and Jamie 98. Tom managed to finish with an uneventful bogie 5, whilst a combination of Jamie hitting his tee shot into the rough and Andrew's short game letting him down, set a very tight finish. Jamie stepped onto the green needing a six foot put to draw with Andrew, unfortunately it wasn't Jamie's day so Andrew took second place bragging rights.

We capped off the day with a nice meal and several drinks. Thanks to Jamie and Lee for giving us all a reason to make the most of a sunny Friday afternoon. Here's to many more.

End of Financial Year Celebration - Go Karting - July 2012

Go-Karting Team

To celebrate our 2011-12 Financial year we all decided to spend the afternoon racing around a Go-Karting track in Port Melbourne, followed by food and drinks in Melbourne's CBD. With Tom and Harish driving for the first time and several of the others being experienced go-karters no one was willing to bet who was the likely victor.

We began with 10 laps of practice and qualifying. Tom went out first and within 100 meters he was already overtaken by everyone, having to chase the field. It was immediately apparent that Andrew, Jamie and Ryan were the aggressors, being very keen to take the trophy. As we were called into the grid, Ryan gracefully* made his way to pole position on the grid, followed by Jamie in second position, then Andrew, Lee, Harish and Tom.

The race of 30 laps was fought closely by Ryan and Andrew, with both of them treating each opponent with upmost respect*. As the laps continued, it seemed we barely managed 3 laps at a time without someone spinning out of control forcing a lap of walking pace speeds while the culprit was turned to face the right way.Go-Karting Podium
The race came to an exciting close with very little separating Andrew and Ryan, The 2nd last lap however one car came to a spinning halt, with the other taking an unbeatable lead. Unfortunately neither Ryan nor Andrew can agree on the cause of the incident however the race came to a close with everyone stating their enjoyment. We had barely taken our helmets off before the banter started and the jokes flying.

* Denotes extreme sarcasm

Then the results came in:

1st – Andrew Straubinger
2nd – Ryan (Lewis) Hathaway
3rd – Tom Murphy
4th – Jamie Collins
5th – Lee (Jenson) McAndrews
6th - Harish Chhabria

Property Council Victoria Annual Golf Day - March 2012

Aptus joined 4D Workshop and Lehr Consultants International in a fun yet very average performance in this years corporate golf day. Andrew Ostrowski managed to get his drives on the card first with Tom Murphy in close second. On a very windy day our fairway game let us down as well as our inability to sink puts within 10 feet of the hole. Over all it was a great day enjoyed by all.
